SHARE the Holidays

Dear Friends,

The demand for SHARE services is skyrocketing. With soaring inflation, we are seeing 100 families each week for groceries, compared to about 40 a week pre-pandemic. In addition, requests for rent, electric assistance, car repairs, and other sorts of financial assistance are far outpacing the last few years. We expect demand for holiday assistance to follow suit.

During the holidays, we look to our generous community to make the lives of those less fortunate a little brighter. SHARE’s Holiday Program is a decades-old tradition in the Souhegan Valley. There are many ways you can participate and celebrate the holidays by helping a family in need.

Please consider the following options for holiday donations and let us know how you would like to help this year. We are happy to answer any questions. Email holiday@sharenh.org or call the SHARE Center at (603) 673-9898.

Adopt a Local Family for the Holidays

Please consider making the holidays special for one of these families by ‘adopting’ them.

Our adopter-a-family works as follows: adopters buy gifts for children 18 and under based on a wish list. We ask each client’s family to give a few ideas for much-wanted or needed gifts and a gift card preference. Adopters can use this ‘wish list’ when shopping for their family. The total spent on each child is up to the adopter. We suggest about $100.

If you cannot adopt a family alone, why not ask other family members, co-workers, friends, or other groups to share in this meaningful holiday fun?  If you wish to do more, we suggest you adopt another small family or make a monetary contribution to SHARE.

How to Adopt a Family:

  1. Click HERE then fill out the convenient online form OR
  2. Call the office to give your information over the phone (673-9898)

*If you choose to adopt a family, please remember that we will begin matching families with adopters in late October and will do our best to match you as soon as possible. Note that gifts will be dropped off at SHARE December 13-14. More detailed instructions will be sent with your adopted family information.

Donate Gift Cards

Gift cards will be used as gifts for senior citizens and to supplement families who are not adopted. These may be to one of the area grocery or drug stores, such as Wal-Mart and Target, or a local independent store, restaurant, or farm stand.

Donate Food

The demands on the SHARE Food Pantry are immense. November and December are the perfect months to donate food to stock the pantry shelves for shoppers or to help us store a little away for the winter. Donate through your local grocery store or place of worship or involve your friends and family: ask everyone in your book group, club, or class to bring in a nonperishable item, collect food at your holiday party, or challenge your co-workers. No donation is too small.

Make a Monetary Donation

Donations may be made in person at the SHARE Center, 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford, 03055, or by mail or visiting our website at www.sharenh.org. Be sure to specify if you would like your donation used for the holidays or for SHARE to help families throughout the year.

Thank you for your support of those in need!
